Little Rock, AR (Future150) -- When it came to high school basketball in Arkansas this past season, the conversation started and ended with a loaded North Little Rock team. With guards Anton Beard, Kevaughn Allen, KJ Hill and Adrian Moore in the fold, few teams could hang with such a loaded squad.
While Beard was the senior leader on that squad, Kevaughn Allen proved he is a force in his own right. Now he is looking to show the rest of the country that he is one of the most explosive guards in his class.
Recently Allen turned in a standout weekend at the prestigious Real Deal in the Rock tournament, where he played point guard with his team.
"I want to show people that I can be a point guard and that I can run a team," Allen said.
He knows that the transition from the two to playing point full time will take time, but feels that it will only benefit him in the long run. With Anton Beard graduating, he will be counted on to run what will be another solid North Little Rock team next season.
"We had a special group last year. We have to play harder and smarter next year if we want to win a state title," he said.
Allen went on to say that Beard is recruiting him to Arkansas in order to reunite with his former teammate at the college level, but schools such as Mississippi State, Florida, Memphis, and Wake Forest have all extended offers as well. At this point, his recruitment is still wide open.
This year, Allen will run with Team Penny on the EYBL circuit and could see his recruitment take off to another level if he continues to improve and slides over to the lead guard role. Follow along with Future150 as we continue to track his progress.
