Brentwood, TN (Future150) -- The opportunity to go to an Ivy League institution for free doesn’t come along much for students. With that being said, it was an easy decision for Montrose Christian (Md.) big man Cole Harrison to choose Dartmouth.

“It was too good of an opportunity to pass up, both academically and athletically,” Harrison told Future150.com. “Basketball is going to stop at some point. I can be as successful as I want for my future at Dartmouth.”

A Future150 alum, Harrison has been drawing the attention of the Dartmouth coaching staff for quite some time. In the last few weeks, several high-majors, including Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, and Marquette, had begun showing interest. Nevertheless, the coaching staff’s diligence pulled him away from other high-majors.

“Dartmouth chased me from my days at Brentwood to Montrose. They have been around a long time, so it just showed me how devoted the coaching staff was to me. I’m confident they can develop me as a player.”

With recent success at schools like Cornell and Harvard, the Ivy League is no slouch. Dartmouth has the chance to be on the rise, and the 6-foot-10 Harrison could be the missing piece for the program.

“I feel like I can be very successful at Dartmouth. My goal is to do what the team asks of me throughout my career. I feel like I can help the program on the rise back to the top of the conference. We have some good players coming back, so it’s definitely possible,” he explained.

Prior to his senior season, Harrison was in Brentwood, Tennessee. While he was still talented, Montrose opened the door for many different possibilities.

“I have to credit all the success I have had this past year to the coaches at Montrose. They allowed me to get better and they had my back 100 percent. As for the season, we shocked a lot of people. No one really thought we would be in the finals at the NHSI Invitational. Overall, it was a great year.”

It is worth being noted Harrison also visited and considered Mercer and Wofford.

He is a three-star according to Future150.com.
