Atlanta, GA (Future150) -- Phil Cofer is ready to be an ordinary kid for a change.
On Tuesday, Cofer, a 6-foot-7 forward out of Whitewater (GA), made a stride towards that, as he gave his pledge to Cuonzo Martin and Tennessee.
"Going into my senior year, I wanted to know I was going somewhere. It's nice to know where I will be playing throughout my senior year instead of having to worry about it," Cofer told Future150.com.
"I chose Tennessee mainly because of Coach [Cuonzo] Martin. He is a great coach, and like my mom said, he and the coaching staff have a great heart. It really is a family atmosphere."
Cofer chose Tennessee over offers from Georgia Tech and Mississippi State, along with recent interest from Louisville.
He is a three-star according to Future150 and joins New Orleans guard Jordan Cornish as the Vols' first commitments for the class.
However, Cofer is looking to do a little recruiting in the Georgia area, in hopes of bringing more players to Knoxville.
"I'm definitely going to start on trying to get Devin Mitchell. I want to get him up here."
