Indianapolis, IN (Future150) -- The Circle City Shootout in Indianapolis had many competitive 16u teams.  SYF Players and Indiana Faith were crowned as co-champions.  After going 0-2 in pool play, SYF Players rallied together to win three nail-biting games in bracket play.  Indiana Faith cruised to the championship of their bracket and upset Indiana Elite in the championship game 64-60.

Hoop Dreams Orange and Gardens Magic each lost by one point in the semi finals.  With so many games coming down to the wire, the 16u gold bracket sure held a lot of excitement and emotion.

The following are some of the best performers in the 16U division:

Jordan Harris, 2017 PG, Gardens Magic:  Harris is a very poised guard who was the floor general for the Magic.  Although his size may be looked at as a weakness he plays at a very smart pace.  His game consists of a tight handle, crisp passes, and he has the ability to knock down key shots down the stretch.

Jaylon Hall, 2017 G, Hoop Dreams 16u Orange:  The 6’5” guard is an explosive dribbler whose handles shift his defenders.  He is able to create his own shots, however, he lacks the ability to create high volume scoring numbers.

Dut Mabok, 2017 C, Indiana Elite Central 2017: Mabok is a 6’9” center who is capable of causing a lot of problems for opposing teams.  Having the tallest player in the 16u group, gave Indiana Elite a big advantage.  His ability to rebound, block shots, and finish at the rim makes him a very dominant player.  Once Mabok improves his footwork, dribbling, and shooting, he could be a great player at the next level.

Dylan Allen, 2017 PG, Indiana Elite Clippers:  Allen is an all-around player who created plays for himself and his teammates all tournament long.  He can finish by the rim, and consistently knock down 3 point shots.  In their 79-78 loss against SYF Players in the first round of the bracket, Allen hit a number of clutch shots that kept his team in the game before falling short to the eventual champions.

Wyatt Hughes, 2017 F, SYF Players 16u:  Hughes is another all-around player.  Hughes was a huge factor for his team throughout the tournament.  At 6’7”, he is still able to knock down shots from 3-point range.  He is a very dangerous player in the post, because of his ability to play with his back to the basket and also to face up to his defender.  Hughes was dominant and went on big scoring runs throughout the tournament.

Caleb Coleman, 2017 F, SYF Players 16:  Coleman was one of the most athletic players in the 16u age group at the Circle City Shootout.  Not only does his athleticism create a spark of energy for his team, but he can also shoot behind 3 point range.  Coleman needs to improve on his ball handling so that he can open up more scoring opportunities for himself.  Coleman was a key component for the SYF Players because he contributes so much on both ends of the court.
