Memphis, TN (Future150) -- The offers have come fast and furious over the past two weeks. Buter, Florida, Memphis, Ohio State, Southern California, and UConn, Two weeks in front of college coaches is all it took for some of the most prestigious programs in the country to realize what Future150 has known for a few months now...Chris Chiozza is a top five point guard in the country.
The 5'11" jet with the ball in his hands has been on the radar as a big time prospect for over a year now, but his play this AAU season has taken him to a completely different level. His Team Thad coach, Norton Hurd, believes the difference this season has been his confidence.
"Chris has traits you can't teach. The biggest difference has been his confidence. Once myself and a few others really got behind him, he has shown that he is ready to take on the world. He doesn't think there is anyone out there who can stop him," he told us.
So far this year, there hasn't been a floor general who has been able to compete with the White Station High School (Tn) product.
Currently ranked as the #55 prospect in the country and the #14 point guard in his class, his current level of play will have him shooting up the rankings in the next update.
He will rise so much so, that he will be knocking on the door as perhaps the third best point guard in the country, breathing down the necks of Tyus Jones and Emmanuel Mudiay.
While there will certainly be people who see this as a stretch, there are certainly even more people who are beginning to believe the hype.
"His leadership, motor, passing, and creativity are what set him apart. The fact that his jump shot has become so consistent is what has made him the most dangerous point guard in the southeast," coach Hurd told us.
Now, the question isn't how high he can rise, but how many more elite programs will be offering the Memphis star.
This weekend, Chris and Team Thad will be traveling to Fort Wayne, Indiana for the 2013 Bill Hensley Memorial Run N' Slam, where he will look to prove his worth against more of the top guards in the country.
Expect it to be another weekend where the theme is broken ankles and shattered reputations, which are becoming a trademark for the Shane Larkin clone.
