Huntsville, AL (Future150) -- Cold Springs High School rests softly in the country woods of Bremen, Alabama, and, as expected, the school hasn't had much claim to fame. However, that may begin to change.

Wednesday was a big day for the school, as Chayse Elliott, a senior guard, signed his National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Alabama-Huntsville.

"It's great, this is a dream come true," Elliott told Future150.com after signing on Wednesday. The 6-foot-3 guard has been committed to the Chargers since the spring. "I'm excited I get the chance to take my game to the next level and play at UAH."

Alabama-Huntsville, one of the top Division-II programs in the country, has made some big strides as a program in the past few years. The 2013 recruiting class is just another thing to add to the list.

Elliott was also being pursued by a couple of Division-I programs, including Army, William & Mary, and Lipscomb.

Why take the road to Alabama-Huntsville?

"I love the coaches. Coach [Lennie] Acuff is a great person and so are the rest of the coaches."

"Second, UAH is just as good as some Division-I colleges. I also feel like I fit well with the team."

The star guard joins some nice size with Seab Webster and Kip Owens; Webster was also being recruited by several higher programs, including Oklahoma State.

Another huge step for the Chargers occurred just a few days ago, as they traveled to Manhattan, Kan. for the NIT Season Tip-Off Tournament. Not only did Acuff's squad make history for being the first Division-II squad to be invited, but they also made their own record-books by taking down North Texas, led by future NBA-draftee Tony Mitchell.

"That is a huge win for the program. It helps get the UAH name out there, but it also boosts the confidence of the players. It's great," Elliott explained.

While the name is rather new, expect to hear the Chargers, currently ranked No. 3 in the nation, continue to make more noise on the basketball-front.

UAH is building itself into one of the top programs in its division, and as the team motto says, "Envy our past, Fear out future."

Get ready, because Alabama-Huntsville's future continues to look bright.
