Chattanooga, TN (Future150) -- Nickeil Alexander-Walker is the top prospect out of Canada in the class of 2017 and for good reason. At 6-foot-3 and armed with a very high basketball IQ, he has the ability to play either guard position if needed.
Plenty of schools have shown interest in him over the past couple of years, but now he is down to five schools.
Baylor, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, Maryland and USC make up his final list, and Alexander-Walker broke down what he likes about each of them.
On USC: " I really like USC because Jason Hart has been the lead recruiter for me and he has played in the NBA, I feel he can help me develop and get to that point, I think Coach Enfield has a well oiled offense and does a good job utilizing his guards and giving them freedom, "
On Maryland: "Maryland is a dream school, I love the way they play and I feel like I can fit in well in their system, I love the way Coach Turgeon uses his guards, and the atmosphere is everything you play for it's crazy there,"
On Baylor: "Scott Drew has made me a top priority which is very important because I know there will be authenticity in our relationship, They are in the hardest conference in college basketball and they have good academics as well,"
On Virginia Tech: "The assistant (Jamie McNeily) and I are basically like family, our families go way back to before I was even a thought, I know that at Virginia tech no matter what I'll get better because I know the relationship me and coach McNeily have between each other, Coach Williams is really animated and a very upbeat guy who has produced one the NBA's top shooting guards"
On Cincinnati: "Coach Davis has shown a lot of love during the season, My role on that team is clear and I see myself helping that program in the future, I have the upmost respect for Coach Cronin and what he has done over the years,"
Alexander-Walker went on to admit he is unsure of when he was actually make his college decision, so it will be interesting to see which of the five programs track him all spring and summer as we turn to the final leg of his recruitment.
