Decatur, AL (Future150) -- Within a few weeks, West Morgan (AL) guard Brandon Roberts has went from a rather unknown high school basketball player to emerging with two offers.
Roberts has been making noise in north Alabama, as he is leading the state in scoring at 32 points per game. That also includes a 50-point performance a few weeks ago that has really burst him onto the scene.
After seeing him notch a triple-double early in the week, UNC-Wilmington extended a scholarship offer to the 6-foot-1 guard; Samford did the same after watching him finish with a 29-point outing on Friday night.
While it is still very early in his recruitment, these two offers should get the ball rolling for the ultra-quick speedster. It's just the start, but Roberts is thankful for his first two scholarships.
"It's definitely a huge confidence booster," he told Future150.com. "If anything, it just makes me want to work even harder to be prepared for the next level. It's only the beginning."
Over the next month, several other schools who have reached out to the Roberts camp will be in to see him. Murray State, Northeastern, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Tulane, and Charleston Southern are schools that could be involved.
Roberts had this to say about his first two offers:
"I love UNC-Wilmington's playing style and it's something new for me as far as campus and environment go. It's also out of state, something I'm looking at."
"Samford is great academically, and I love how they're building up their program with the new staff and the goals they have for the future."
Stay tuned for more info on Roberts heading into January, as the senior guard could be flirting with double-digit offers.
