Houston, TX (Future150) -- If you're a high school basketball player in Houston, it's not exactly easy to stand out. Due to the high volume of standout prospects the city churns out on a yearly basis, it's very easy for talented kids to slip through the cracks. We're making sure that isn't the case with 2019 power forward Obi Ezekwesili.
We got multiple viewings of the explosive 6'6" forward. He shined for the Urban Kings at our Future150 Houston Battleground Tournament in June. He then followed that with an even stronger performance at our All-Southwest Camp in August, where we had the following analysis of his game:
"An explosive athlete at 6'6", the bouncy forward is a force on the glass on both ends. He knows how to score around the rim using either hand and stays disruptive on the defensive end, blocking and altering shots at a high rate. Routinely, he finished plays with big dunks, and his high motor makes him a productive player on both offense and defense."
Currently not fielding any college interest, the Westside High School (TX) product is sure to change that, whether it's this winter or once AAU season starts in the spring.
"I'm pretty good finishing around the basket. I'm looking to become a consistent and reliable scorer and defender, and I'm working on my ball-handling skills," he told Future150.
While he eventually wants to earn a division one scholarship offer, he knows that his time is coming and that it's all part of the process.
"Work hard, Play harder. That's a quote I try to live by."
