North Augusta, SC (Future150) -- Chaundee Brown has long been considered a high-major recruit, but after a fantastic spring and summer, it's clear he has taken his game to a whole new level.
The First Academy (FL) guard jumped onto the EYBL circuit after the first live period and made Nike South Beach a dangerous program. He averaged 22 points and six rebounds last week at Peach Jam, proving to be one of the best shooting guards in the nation along the way.
Maryland, Oklahoma, Georgia, LSU, Texas Tech, Xavier, UConn and Wake Forest had all offered prior to Peach Jam, while one Big XII program offered shortly after.
Kansas pulled the trigger and offered on Sunday, and will be a player moving forward. The Jayhawks had him on campus last year and will remain a player moving forward.
Brown has been to Maryland and the Terps remain a constant in his recruitment.
"I got the chance to go up there when they played Ohio State and beat them by 30. It was a good time. Coach Warren checks in on me at least once a week and Coach Turgeon has been down to see me a couple of times during the high school season," Brown said of the Terps.
He is also trying to cut his list down to five or six schools in August, then the swingman plans to take his visits.
"I'm not sure if I'm going to decide in the fall or wait it out, but I know I want to take my visits early," said Brown.
It is worth noting that Duke has begun to show interest now as well. The Blue Devils are looking for a big class in 2017 and Brown may fit into their plans.
Ultimately, if any more schools are going to get involved with the Future150 alum, it will be in the next week or so. After that, look for his list to shrink considerably and visit dates to be set.
