Austin, TX (Future150) -- Part four is here and lets take a look at Texas early commits.
Having two guards commit to being Longhorns next fall, as shooting guard Eric Davis and point guard Kerwin Roach Jr. hope to make a impact for Texas during their time in Austin.
Davis is a tremendous scorer that gets buckets off the dribble, catch and shoot situations, and is good at attacking the basket. He is a versatile offensive player and plays solid defense also. He is a little small for my liking at shooting guard, but will do fine next year. I would like for him to play more point guard and see if he can get his teammates more involved as he is more of a score-first guard, but his offensive scoring abilities will show at the next level.
Roach Jr. is an athletic guard that excels in transition. He uses his speed to beat defenders off the dribble, and is explosive when trying to finish at the rim. He also excels at getting his teammates involved and at 6'3, that is a great size for a point guard. I would like for him to use his jumpshot more, especially when defenders back away from him in the half court and it needs to be more consistent. His physical tools and unselfishness gives him the tools to be a good point guard in college.
Overall this is a solid start for the Longhorns, and they deserve a good grade for their work.
