Lewisville, TX (Future150) -- The Future150 Dallas Battleground was back in Texas for a 3rd straight year looking for young talent. The 13U division featured some of the top players in the Dallas Metro area. Teams from 4 states were on hand to compete.
The championship game featured BMM versus the Longview Pack Elite. The game was tight early and in the second half the overall play of PF Matt Reed was just too much to overcome. BMM wins the championship 59-47.
Tournament MVP: PF Matt Reed (BMM)
All Tournament Team:
SG Deontrell Barrett (FOE Elite)
SF Cade Cole (Storm)
PF Dealyn Evans (Longview Pack)
PG Kyle Layton (Coaches Elite)
Jonah Breeden- 2023 SG (North Texas Legacy) Breeden is a very smart player. Not being afraid of contact, Breeden is very good when it comes to using his body in the paint. He's got length which can be effective on both ends when he has the ball. Another aspect of his offensive game is his three-point game which usually results in a made bucket. Solid overall performance on the weekend.
Deontrell Barrett- 2024 SG (FOE Elite) Barret has a nice frame and plays with a good feel for the game. By playing up a class this past weekend it was easy to see by his scoring abilities that he was not fased. He can score in bunches and at times he looked like he was the best player in the division. He is clearly a top 10 prospect in the 2024 class. As he matures mentally and learns his team needs him at all times, look for his game to take the next step.
Taylor Brannan- 2023 PG (Storm) Brannan is a talented all-around player. While being completely dominant on the scoring end of things, Brannan can help you in any facet of the game. He has good court vision, ball handling skills and is a play maker in the half court set. If you want to win the game keep the ball in his hands at all times and good things happen.
Matt Reed- 2023 PF (BMM) At 6-foot-5 inches tall and big bodied frame, Reed was a monster in the paint. His rebounding abilities on both the offensive and defensive glass was unmatches. Once he gets the ball in the paint or block area its almost impossible to stop him from scoring. Soft hands, nimble feet and a variety of post moves made him an offensive force that carried his team to the championship.
Cade Cole- 2023 SF (Storm) Cole is one of the more skilled players we saw this past weekend in the division. After a defensive rebound, he has the ball handling skills to take it the full length of the floor and score. He has good size, athleticism and was one of the better overall scorers. He can score on all three levels and loves making plays for his teammates. His overall versatility allows him to guard and play multiple positions on the floor. We love his game.
Dealyn Evans- 2024 PF (Longview Pack Elite) Evans is a true big man who executes his job at both ends of the floor. He can really rebound and is a terrific scorer in the paint for his size. Productivity, playing with a high motor and never giving up on a play are all things you love in his game. He gets the job done and puts up good numbers when he steps across the lines.
Elijah Flowers- 2023 PG (Coaches Elite 2023) Flowers has a nice all around game and plays extremely hard on both ends of the floor. Scored 23 points in the win. He loves getting out on the fast break and finishing at the rim. Feel for the game, coachable and making the mid range jumper are all things that stand out in his game.
Aaron Boyce- 2023 PG (Apex Elite) Boyce came out very hot from behind the 3 Friday night and it carried over all weekend. His quick first step and ball handling skills allow him to get by his defender with ease. Decision makings, court vision and team leadership are all things he does well when the game is on the line.
Quentin Wright- 2023 PG (BMM) Wright is a big time slasher who loves getting to the rim when scoring. His quickness and scoring ability allows him to play both guard positions. Controling the game, making plays and overall court vision makes him and his teammates a threat when on the floor. When the game was on the line, Wright made plays to help his team advance in the tournament.
Kyle Layton- 2023 PG (Coaches Elite) Layton showed that he can score on all three levels throughout the tournametn. He likes to get to the mid range where he was very consistent. He shoots well off the dribble and has a nice floater that he uses well when he drives to the basket. Speed, on ball defense and being coachable are all things that you like in a player.
