Bronx, NY (Future150) -- The past couple of seasons has seen Baltimore powerhouse St. Frances Academy come to the Bronx to play in the CityLegendz Invitational. This year the Panthers faced a scrapy Weaver (CT) squad, but ultimately their depth helped them win out.
One of the many talented wings on SFA this year is 2019 wing Rajeir Jones. The 6-foot-3, 165 pound swingman is arguably the Panthers best perimeter defender already , and proved to be a pretty talented slasher as well. Despite only being a sophomore, Jones was able to give a fair assessment of his game.
“I feel like my biggest strength right now is being able to play defense and bring energy on the floor, I know I have to get better as shooter and a ball-handler, though,” he said.
On the AAU circuit, Jones runs with Team Melo, a group that will be joining the EYBL circuit this season. This spring will be a big one for him on the recruiting trail, and he’s already begun to hear from the likes of Old Dominion and Long Beach State; two of the best mid-major programs in the country over the last decade.
Ultimately, it will be interesting to see what level his recruitment hits. Every team can use a player like Jones in the sense that he is a tenacious defender and doesn’t require plays to be run for him order to score. Right now he projects as a solid mid-major type, but with a little more refining of his game, things could go even higher for the young Baltimore native.
