Charlotte, NC (Future150) -- Charlotte Catholic (NC) has had a great season so far this year, as they have yet to lose a game. Future150 Alum B.J. Mack has played a major role in keeping his team undefeated, all while continuing to pick up high major interest from schools around the area.
"He's averaging 12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block per game," Said Mack's father Brian. "He's been shooting around 55% from the field and 75% from the free throw line."
He is leading his team in scoring and rebounding, and the big man has continued to grow and now stands at 6'8 and weighs about 260 pounds. Mack is a very strong and fundamental big man that thrives on the offensive glass and has very nimble feet and a soft touch around the basket. Another thing that makes him very valuable as a big man is his ability to run the floor, and even bring the ball up the court if needed.
"It's been a great learning experience," Brian said. "As a dad, the best part has been seeing him learn how to play the game, and learning how to be effective without being the leader of the team.
"Charlotte Catholic has some really good players, and B.J. is just another really good piece that's helping the whole puzzle come together."
Mack is the first freshman ever to play Varsity basketball at Charlotte Catholic, so the expectations for him have been fairly high. He and his team have certainly lived up to the hype.
"They have a great chance at winning states this year, and that will be big if you help your team do that as a freshman," Said Brian. "You don't have to be the leader, to help lead the team."
The freshman has already picked up offers from Georgia, and Virginia Tech and has seen NC State, Tennessee, UNC, and Wake Forest, among others keeping tabs on him lately.
Seeing the high major programs already after him makes perfect sense as he is easily a top 30 prospect in the his class. It wouldn't be foolish to think Mack will hold offers from all the blueblood programs before his recruitment is said and done.
Continue to follow along with Future150 as we continue to track Mack's progress and the rest of our 2019 alumni's.
