Atlanta, GA (Future150) -- Some of the most talented prospects to take the floor at McEachern High School (GA) over the weekend took the floor Sunday evening to play in the annual Top 40 All-Star game. Here were some of the standouts...
Jordan Smith, 2016 SF: The 6-foot-6 power forward has an extremely high motor and was using it to his advantage all weekend long. He scored easy basket after easy basket at the rim by simply outworking other big men. He is an above-the-rim player who finishes well around the rim using both hands. He also rebounds the basketball very well.
Austin Goodluck, 2015 PG: One of the prospects with the highest basketball IQ's in Atlanta was the Winter Park High School (FL) standout. The 6-foot guard can play either guard position. He has a very good outside jump shot and was knocking down contested shots throughout the weekend. He also has good court vision and excels when finding teammates in the open floor.
Will Holt, 2014 PG: A Future150 Camp alum last year, Will has improved his game in several areas. He has become more of a point guard prospect with improved ball-handling skills this year. However, he is still a skilled scorer who can knock down shots from mid-range as well as three-point range. As it stands right now, he has the look of a solid division two prospect who is thirsty to compete and improve.
Sam Edwards, 2014 C: The 7-foot Memphis native will be spending his reclass year at Kingdom Prep in Georgia. Since early April, he has shed a considerable amount of weight, improving his mobility and motor. He also has improved his ball skills, several times rebounding the basketball and starting the fast break. While his inside scoring needs more work, especially finishing in traffic, you can't teach the sheer size Edwards possesses.
Jah-Kobe Womack, 2015 PG: The St. Louis native made his name at camp with his explosive athleticism and smooth game. The 6-foot-2 Cardinal Ritter (MO) rising junior is a capable scorer as well as facilitator. He plays the game with excellent pace and is always a threat to finish a play with a highlight-reel dunk. Keep an eye on him this coming school year and AAU season. He could be primed for a breakout.
Jay Shorts, 2014 SF: One of the most versatile and consistent prospects at camp was the 6-foot-3 wing. He has adequate ball skills, can score consistently from mid-range, and is a good rebounder on both ends of the floor. What makes him even more appealing is his ability to play hard-nosed on-ball defense.
Brandon Boston, 2016 SG/SF: If you are looking for a sleeper prospect in Mississippi's 2016 class, you've found him in Pearl High School's 6-foot-6 wing. He is a good slasher who uses his size and length to score at the rim. While he doesn't have superior speed on the floor, he makes up for that with his crafty skills around the rim. Good looking prospect for low major schools right now.
Tariq Morris, 2014 SG: The 6-foot-1 wing doesn't have the size and speed that colleges covet, but simply put, he gets results every time he's on the floor. He excelled this past weekend by scoring on all three levels, creating plays in transition, and playing intense on-ball defense. He is a long and wiry guard who always gets results, which is something to be admired.
Josh Humphries, 2015 CG: The 6-foot-3 wing is a shooting guard right now, but his game showed glimpses of lead guard skills. He can handle the basketball against pressure, has excellent court vision, and loves to get out in transition. He also is a capable scorer who can get baskets quickly. Look for him to have a big season at Bayshore High School (FL) this season.
Jordan Hollins, 2016 SG: The now two time Future150 all-star showed improvement in his game since Charlotte camp last year. The 6-foot-3 multiple sport athlete has good size for a college wing, and can fill the stat sheet in several ways. In Atlanta, he was scoring the basketball by using his high motor and slashing ability. Very promising baseball prospect as well.
