Blue Springs, MO (Future150) -- Ashton West is a 6'2", 177-pound combo guard who plays for Blue Springs High School in Missouri, and he has an ambitious goal for the upcoming season.
“My goal for the high school season is to win a state championship,” he told Future150.
West currently is garnering interest from Interest from Belmont, Binghamton, Brown, Gardner-Webb, Idaho State, Jacksonville, Marquette, Morehead State, Jacksonville, Stony Brook, UMKC, Utah, and Vanderbilt. He currently holds four offers, but wants to keep them quiet.
“I'd like to keep the four offers quiet, then announce where I'm going when I decide to commit.”
Ashton West outlaid the strengths to his game. “I can facilitate and make other people better around me, I feel like I'm a good shooter, can handle, and have a good first step.” With that said, he also told us a few of his weaknesses.
“Court vision and attacking from left to right are my weaknesses.”, he said.
As far as visits, West reports to Future150 that he has already visited Kansas State back in February, but has four more visits scheduled.
He also told us one player that he models his game after, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.
“I model my game after Steph Curry. He was under-recruited coming out of high school, and he is under-sized for the league, yet he is still dominant because of the countless hours he has spent in the gym. He uses his jump shot and floater to successfully score and facilitate against the bigger, stronger defenders. He's a player built off of hard work and that really sticks out to me.”
Even with all of his success on the court, West plans to translate that off the court. It's extremely humbling for him. "I'm very thankful for everything,” he said.
