Reading, PA (Future150) -- Future150 spent the first two days of the second July live period at Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, where Hoop Group Elite Session 2 brought in some of the best talent in the Northeast. Which prospects caught our attention? Find out below.
Igiehon Seeing His Stock Rise This Summer
After officially "blowing up" at the 2016 Pangos All-East Camp last October, it was a relatively quiet winter and spring for 6'10" big man Aidan Igiehon. However, after a great showing at the Nike Elite 100 Camp last month, his stock has been on the rise again. He continued his strong camp showing at Hoop Group this week, where he's clearly the most polished and explosive big in the event. Arizona, Syracuse, Villanova, Stanford, Harvard, St. John's, Seton Hall, Texas A&M, Illinois, Xavier, Oklahoma, Rutgers & South Carolina are among the schools heavily pursuing the Ireland native, and with good reason. An explosive athlete with a huge motor and constantly improving skills, he's currently a 4-star prospect with a chance to hit the 5-star range with his rapid growth.
Ajiri Johnson Tearing The Camp Competition Apart
Outside of Igiehon, the most dominant big man in the camp has been Bonner-Prendergast (PA) 6'8" power forward Ajiri Johnson. A freaky athlete who loves to play above the rim, he put several defenders on posters at camp. What we love most about him is that he demands the ball on the low block, and plays with a relentless motor. His most recent offers have come from the likes of Delaware, Monmouth & NJIT, and several more should start rolling in after his performance in Reading.
Samba Diallo Turning Heads With His Play
One of the most impressive slashers at camp has been Pope John XXIII (NJ) 6'7" lefty Samba Diallo. He's had a very impressive AAU season running with the New York Jayhawks, and for good reason. Not only is it easy to love his size on the wing, but he's so good at attacking the rim and navigating tight spaces. UMass, VCU & Iona are all recruiting him hard, with some high-major schools sniffing around after his strong summer play.
3 Prospect Who Intrigued Us At Hoop Group Elite Session 2:
Kamari Williams, 2019 SF, 6th Man Warriors (MD): The 'upside' factor is huge for the 6'7" wing, who's the son of former NBA player Walt Williams. Not only can he stroke it from the outside, but he's a solid slasher as well. Recently picking up an offer from UAB, things are really about to take off for the talented Maryland prospect.
Tyrel Bladen, 2018 PF, New Jersey Playaz (NJ): A late-blooming 6'8" post, the Pennsylvania big man is ready to see some division one scholarship offers come his way after his play this summer. Currently only holding an offer from D2 Wingate University, things should pick up for the rim-running athlete, who's vocal and improving at a rapid rate.
Chris Mann, 2018 SG/SF, United Basketball (NJ): A smooth-stroking 6'5" wing prospect currently holding offers from the likes of Army and Navy, his stock is on the rise after his performances at Hoop Group Elite Session 2. Not only does he have good size and shooting ability, but he isn't afraid to mix it up on the inside and locks up on the defensive end as well.
