Atlanta, GA (Future150) -- More now than ever, a premium is being put on perimeter shooting. College coaches are constantly looking to add a knock down shooter in order to space the floor more and create driving lanes for their other guards.
2017 guard Matt Beachler is drawing siginificant interest from a number of high profile programs.
"It's nice, I've been working really hard on my game, so it's good to know that the hard work is paying off," said Beachler.
He showcased his elite shooting ability early this summer, knocking down 9 threes in a game during the first live period. He also put the ball on the floor quite a bit, proving that he is more than a stand still shooter.
"I feel like I can do more than just shoot the ball, I feel like I share the ball pretty well, I'm starting to work on my strength and defense, I try to rebound the ball as much as I can to help out, I want to be a complete basketball player, not just a shooter," Beachler said.
The son of two teachers, academics are going to be very important to Beachler when he makes his college decision. Most of the MAC has offered him, as well as VCU and Depaul. Michigan, Michigan State and Stanford have been showing siginificant interest as well.
"I just want to end up at a school where I fit the coach's playing style and where they have good academics," he said.
Wherever he ends up, he will be someone who can space the floor and continue to score the ball. Follow along with Future150 as we continue to cover the sharp shooting wing.
