Springfield, MA (Future150) -- P.J. Washington has been a big name in recruiting circles since his freshman season, and for good reason. The combo forward has played on the 17U level of the Nike EYBL circuit for as long as he has been in high school.
Following a transfer to Findlay Prep, Washington has improved his perimeter game. While the big man is still very much a "tweener", the fact that he is getting more comfortable on the perimeter is a good sign. As of today, he projects as a very capable stretch-four man.
Arizona, Cal, Florida, Michigan State, Kentucky, Texas, UCLA and North Carolina have all offered him and have been in contact consistently, but four programs are working the hardest.
"I would say that I probably hear the most from Cal, UCLA, Arizona, and Texas," Washington said.
Shaka Smart was front and center for Washington's game at the HoopHall Classic. It's worth noting that John Calipari was there as well.
A native of Frisco, Texas, it is possible that the Longhorns could be the unspoken leader for his services; putting them in line for a very nice 2017 class. But Texas will have to fight off the likes of the aforementioned schools first, and a lot more programs if his performance at HoopHall was any indication of where his game is headed.
