North Charleston, SC (Future150) -- At the Future150 Elite 24 Camp in August, one of the strongest performers in the class of 2018 was South Carolina's Jamal Edmunson. The North Charleston native has carried that over to the varsity level this winter, earning a starting position at R.B. Stall High School (SC).

After two games of action, the 6-foot-4 eighth grade forward is averaging an impressive 15.5 points and 10 rebounds. "The Kid", as he is known around school for his affable personality, is still adjusting to varsity basketball, but the transition has been going smoothly.

"Varsity basketball is a lot different than AAU ball. The competition locally here in Charleson is a lot tougher than what I'm used to. Right now, I'm just adjusting to the game speed," he told Future150.

While Jamal is used to being the biggest kid on his team, that has changed now that he is at the high school level. Because of this, he is playing more of a small forward roll at Stall and working to improve different aspects of his game.

"Every day I'm working on my mid-range game as well as my ball handling," he said.

The honor roll student has high expectations for himself not only on the hardwood, but in the classroom as well. His dream is to one day attend UCLA, a goal he works toward every day.
