Philadelphia, PA (Future150) -- Ed Cooley and his staff have done it yet again on the recruiting trail, this time securing a commitment from center Paschal Chukwu. The Fairfield Prep (CT) big man is a massive get for the Friars, both in need and in stature. He is a 7-foot-1 center who runs the floor incredibly well, blocks shots, and rebounds with a ferocity. It is also worth noting that Chukwu has a 7-foot-8 wingspan, making him play even bigger than he already is.
In the end, it was player development and playing system that made him decide the Friars were the right fit. While he maintained that location wouldn't be a factor, it is interesting to see him pick a fairly local program.
Before cutting his list to Providence and Saint Joe's, he was also considering St. John's and UConn as well. While the other three schools must go back to the drawing board to land an impact big man, Providence fans should be absolutely giddy,
Chukwu joins 2014 standout Jalen Lindsey as commits to Ed Cooley's program. The Friars have three scholarships left and have a chance at landing two more impact recruits fairly soon. Abdul Malik-Abu and Jared Terrell will both make their decisions during a joint press conference on September 7th. If both end up as Friars the rebuilding project will be very close to complete in Providence
