Birmingham, AL (Future150) -- We've now been seriously tracking the national class of 2022 since January 1st of this calendar year, roughly halfway through their seventh grade school year. One thing that is very clear early on with this group as a whole is that it's going to be a very loaded group.

Not only have we already identified a plethora of long term talent, but we know as we head to multiple middle school circuits starting at the beginning of 2018, there will be even more names to add to our national database.

The theme over the past year has been that Michigan wing prospect Emoni Bates has been head-and-shoulders ahead of his classmates, thanks to elite size and skill that he's been showcasing for multiple years now. However, that doesn't necessarily ring true going forward. Because this 2022 group looks so good early on, there will be legitimate competition for the top spot in the country over the next several years.

With that being said, who are the serious contenders to challege him for the #1 spot RIGHT NOW? Well, I don't want to ruin the fun of our release, but several prospects are in the discussion. So, when will our rankings release be? Good question.

This Thursday, December 21st at 12:00 p.m. EST, we will be dropping our updated national rankings list. What are some of the specifics that you can expect?

- We will be unveiling our first crack at our expanded rankings of the top 150 prospects in America.

- Unlike our updated class of 2021 rankings, the top tier in 2022 is very guard heavy.

- As far as #Future150Family members go, we have three (3) inside our top 20, and five (5) inside our national top 50.

- So, who will be giving Emoni Bates a run for his money at #1? Well, a prospect from one of the following areas has been making a case for that spot: Canada, Delaware, New Jersey, Illinois & Texas. If you were looking for some more concrete information, I guess you'll just have to check back in on Thursday!
