Greensboro, NC (Future150) -- As we head to 7th Grade AAU Nationals this week in Greensboro, North Carolina, we figured it was a great time to refresh our national rankings for the class of 2022. We've extended our list from 25 to 50, and many new faces are on the list. Below are some of the interesting storylines as we head into the heart of summer.
Emoni Bates Still Top Dog In America
With a terrific blend of current production and long term potential, 6'6" wing Emoni Bates prospect is firmly entrenched as the #1 prospect in the 2022 class. At this point, his mixtapes are widely viewed, making him one of the more popular prospects in the country, even among high school standouts. There's little doubt at this point in time that anyone will surpass him at the top of the rankings, at least not in the 2017 calendar year.
Walker & Miller-Whithead Lead Strong Wing Group
Two wing prospects who have made considerable moves in the national rankings are Pennsylvania 6'3" prospect Jarace Walker and New Jersey's Dariq Miller-Whitehead. Walker, an explosive above-the-rim athlete, had an excellent winter on the HOT League Circuit, while Miller-Whitehead showed his talents on various circuits throughout the winter season, including the MADE Winter Lea8ue, leading his team to the championship, Adidas Select Series & the Elevate Hoops Proving Ground. At this point, they are ahead of the curve from the wing position.
Griggs, Clark & Cruz Battling For #1 PG Spot
Houston prospect Bryce Griggs has been a hot name on the scene for a few years now, and he continues to show out with each big event. The 5'10" Nike Pro Skills guard has no trouble setting the tone whether he's playing with his own age group or playing against older competition. Out on the West Coast, Skyy Clark has been doing serious damage of his own. Matter of fact, he'll be at Peach Jam this month playing 16U with Cali United, so be on the lookout. However, 6'1" floor general Zion Cruz is hot on their heels. With an advanced offensive game packed with skill and flair, he's risen to the #3 spot in the class, and has Griggs & Clark within his sights.
New Names In The Rankings
Recently reclassed 2021 guard Khalil Farmer checks in at #8 in the country, as the 6'2" Philadelphia prospect was a highly touted member of his original class. Compton Magic guard Ramel Lloyd has proven to be the top dog on the West Coast this year, and rises to #12 in the country. Nike Pro Skills guard Noah Shelby might be the best shooter in the class right now, and he checks into the list at #32. Rounding out the rankings is New Orleans big man Kyran Ratliff, who at a long 6'4", could project to be a very good big man in the future. He lands at #49 on our list.
