Winston-Salem, NC (Future150) -- Dennis Smith Jr. of Fayetteville is regarded as the most dynamic, and dominant point guard in North Carolina right now (and maybe the entire country). So who's next in the long line of great point guards from North Carolina?
The 2019 kid out of Winston-Salem is next.
Future150.com got an oppurtunity to talk to Chaz's father, Terrance, recently and get some knowledge on 2019 PG Chaz Gwyn.
"He averaged 28 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and five steals a game," said father Terrance.
That would be a great line to collect during a few games in a season, but when you're averaging those type of numbers every night that's, well, pretty dynamic.
"Chaz has been working on his overall point guard skills and abilities, as he continues to grow and mature as a player and at his position," said Terrance.
Chaz working on his game is one thing, another thing that's helping Chaz grow and mature is practicing and playing with Team CP3.
Team CP3 14u is loaded with talent. (Wendell Moore Jr., Langley brothers, etc.)
"It's a team-first mentality with those guys, Chaz blends in with all that talent."
Chaz is already regarded as a top 50 talent on the national stage, playing with talent like this for the next four years will only help him improve and mature along with the other players on Team CP3.
Chaz is certainly on the right track to achieve one of his goals for the future.
"Getting into a Division one school is a main goal for the future," said Chaz's father.
This goal will be obtained by all means, as coaches are expected to start coming after Chaz hard as he officially begins his high school career next season.
Chaz already has decent size for a floor general at his age (6'1, 155 lbs) and there is no telling how much more he will grow and how much stronger he can get.
For what it's worth, Chaz was pitted the question of, 'Are there any dream schools that he would love to be recruited by one day down the road?
"Kentucky & UNC."
It may sound far fetched for a 14 year old kid to be thinking about such a high level already, but he is extremely talented and driven.
The sky is the limit for Chaz and his potential as the next great point guard out of North Carolina is there. Now we can sit back and watch it unfold. Many will be rooting for Chaz to be successful and accomplish all his goals as he starts the next chapter of his basketball career.
