Clemmons, NC (Future150) -- Marcus Watson plays at West Forsyth high school in North Carolina and has all the makings of a high major prospect. Already standing around 6'6, Watson has a strong frame that allows him to bang down low and finish through contact with ease. He possesses a beautiful jumper and can knock down shots from anywhere on the floor when he is open.
Watson's physical attributes are off the charts as a freshman, and he knows he has to take advantage of his size and strength every time he steps on the court.
"I try to recognize the disadvantages of the other (team) on defense and offense, then I attack the weak points to the best of my (abilities)," Watson said.
This is truly something Watson has such a knack for at a young age. He can read a defense or offense rather quick and realize the weaknesses or disadvantages of the opposing team, then he pounces like a lion and takes over the game in a hurry.
Watson can not only score in bunches, but he is also learning to do more on the stat sheet that can effect the game just as much as dropping buckets from all over the place.
"When I'm on the court the gameplan is usually playing tough defense, getting rebounds, and filling up the stat sheet with more than just points," Watson said. "When I am on offense, coach usually tells me to let the game come to me and not to rush things."
Watson is without a doubt a potential high major recruit but as just a freshman he hasn't collected too much interest..... yet.
"Virginia has sent me some letters, and Wake Forest has shown some interest in me, but for now those are the biggest schools that have shown me (anything)."
If Watson continues to develop his game and stuff the stat sheet over the summer and during AAU season, expect the interest to rise tremendously and shouldn't be a surprise if he lands an offer or two.
Continue to follow along with Future150 as we track Watson and other high potential freshman across the nation.
