Queens, NY (Future150) -- The greater New York City area has been on the rise as far as becoming a hotbed of talent again. Between kids choosing to stay home for school, and kids transferring into the area, the city is seeing an uptick in talent.

One such transfer is Wyandanch native C.J. Kelly.  The 2017 wing played with the NY Jayhawks on the UAA 16U circuit this past season, and will look to lead Queens High School of Teaching this season.

A bouncy 6-foot-5 wing, Kelly appears poised for a breakout season. He handles the ball well and attacks the rim with reckless abandon. Kelly is also a very good rebounder and has the tools to be a lock down defender in the future as well.

"I know it's early, but I feel like I fit well with this group, I'm a high level scorer and I feel like I do a little bit of everything on the floor," said Kelly of his new team and his game.

So far, Iona, Rider, and Boston College have been the schools to make contact with the Long Island native. With the move to QHST, and the added exposure that it brings, surely more programs will get involved in recent months.

While AAU season is a world away, playing 17U alongside the likes of Hamidou Diallo will also improve his exposure. For now, he will be focused on making a serious impact on QHST and the PSAL as a whole. Follow along with Future150 as we continue to cover the talented junior.
