Richmond, VA (Future150) -- The month of September has been huge for the Rams as they have collected three commitments, one of which is the top ranked player in North Carolina. How will these three guys fit the VCU system? Do the Rams have a shot at landing any other prospects?
HARD COMMITS:
Lavar Batts, 6'2" Point Guard, Concord (NC): One of the best players in North Carolina, regardless of class, Batts style of play will fit perfectly with the VCU style of play. He is a wiry floor general that is very active on defense and slashes the lane with no remorse on offense. His jumpshot has improved greatly over the past year and he continues to grow as a true floor general. This is a perfect match for both Batts and VCU, don't be surprised if he ends his career with the Rams as one of the best to ever come through.
Sean Mobley, 6'9" Power Forward, Montverde (FL): VCU's most recent commit, Mobley will bring some stretch-four skills to the Rams offense. He has a very fundamental game all-around, and doesn't take things lightly when he's on the floor. His intensity, rebounding, and shooting abilities at 6'9" will help him excel in this system.
Marcus Santos-Silva, 6'7" Power Forward, Saxtons River (VT): Definitely not as offensively gifted as Mobley, Santos-Silva will bring some grit and toughness in the interior on defense. He crashes the glass hard on both ends and runs the floor quite well for a +250 pound guy. He may not put up numbers right away, but there aren't many doubts that he will be a fantastic four year player up front for the Rams.
OTHER OFFERS:
VCU has many offers still out to prospects who have not committed yet including Thomas Allen, Terryonte Thomas, Jaylen Sebree, Justyn Hamilton, and David Beatty among others. A majority of these guys are definitely appealing to the system, but it will be interesting to see if the Rams actually pull any of these guys in. Keep your eyes open because VCU might not be finished with this class just yet.
