Memphis, TN (Future150) -- With the Josh Pastner era in the past for Memphis now, Coach Tubby Smith has gotten off to a good start with a solid three man recruiting class. Can the Tigers reel any other prospects in from this class? What do the three current commits bring to the table?
HARD COMMITS:
Jamal Johnson, 6'4" Shooting Guard, Birmingham (AL): When it comes to getting to the rim and finishing, Johnson is one of the best and craftiest players in the 2017 class based off that alone. Throw in his good size at 6'4" and his well above average shooting abilities from deep, and you've got yourself a machine on the offensive end. The Future150 alumni should be able to make a impact right away for Coach Smith and the Tigers.
David Nickelberry, 6'7" Small Forward, Windermere (FL): Nickelberry will bring in ultra versatility on the wing. He can shoot, handle, and pass the ball quite well at 6'7" and uses his lengthy wingspan to his advantage on the defensive end. With his tools, and overall intangibles Nickelberry could turn out to be the best pro prospect of this class after a few years of learning and experience under Coach Smith.
Victor Enoh, 6'8" Forward/Center, Decatur (GA): Memphis's most recent and one of the more unexpected commits in the 2017 class, before Enoh committed to the Tigers there was a lot of buzz surrounding him and Arkansas. Now that Memphis has his commitment secured they can look forward to an extremely hard worker in the post that can dominate the boards on both ends of the floor and has potential to be an elite shot-blocker.
OTHER OFFERS:
Memphis still has offers handed out to a number of uncommitted prospects but it seems to be a very foggy outlook if they can actually land any of these guys. Guys like RayShaun Hammonds, O'Shae Brissett, and Isaiah Stokes are just a few of the undecided seniors that Memphis has offered. Either way this current three man class is not a bad start at all to the post-Pastner era, and could get even sweeter if the Tigers swipe away another three or four-star prospect.
