Tuscon, AZ (Future150) -- Arizona may only have two commits to date, but both are huge gets by Coach Miller and his staff. What do these two bring to the table? Who else are the Wildcats after in the 2017 class, do they have a chance at any other elite prospects?
HARD COMMITS:
DeAndre Ayton, 6'11" Power Forward, Phoenix (AZ): Arguably the #1 player in the class, Ayton recently committed to Sean Miller and the Wildcats. At nearly 7-foot, Ayton has the abilities to score from all three levels, and put the ball on the floor and drive the lane from the perimeter. Don't expect to see him hang around Tuscon for more than one year, as he could quite possibly be the #1 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
Alex Barcello, 6'2" Point Guard, Tempe (AZ): Even though he won't be nearly as hyped as Ayton. Barcello could have a solid impact right away as a freshman. One of the best pure PG's in the class, he has good strength to finish through contact in the lane, and has some great court vision in the halfcourt setting. It won't surprise anyone if he is the next great three to four year floor general for Arizona.
OTHER OFFERS:
Arizona has handed out many offers in the 2017 class. Most notably Tre Duval, Hamidou Diallo, Lonnie Walker, Troy Brown, P.J. Washington, and Ira Lee. The Wildcats are thought to be in pretty good standing with Brown and Washington, and they also made the cuts for Duval and Walker's list. With Ayton already in hand, if Coach Miller can snatch up one or two more elite guys, then there is no question this will be a top three class in the country.
