Houston, TX (Future150) -- It's no secret that Houston, Texas is a hotbed for high school basketball talent. Only there could one of the most talented sophomores in the country be overshadowed on his own high school teammates.
That is exactly the case of what happened to 2015 small foward Juwan Williams of Fort Bend Travis High School. Playing beside twin superstars Aaron and Andrew Harrison, Williams played his role for the Texas 5A state champions.
After helping lead the Tigers to a 33-5 record this past season, he's ready to be a focal point of the team for the next two seasons.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound wing is an explosive athlete who excels by getting to the rim and using his powerful frame to finish against bigger defenders.
"I model my game after LeBron. I'd describe my game as athletic and slashing. I'm not much of a jump shooter yet, but if the shot is there, I'm taking it," he told me.
The Houston Hoops forward is excited to play on the big state at Nike Peach Jam next month for his 16U team. While no schools have aggressively recruited Juwan yet, it's only a matter of time. As for next basketball season, he has exactly the right mindset.
"I want to get back to state. With the twins gone, that gives us more of a reason to prove ourselves."
