Charlottesville, VA (Future150) -- One player who really stood out last weekend was Las Vegas High School (NV) star Ray Smith. He showed a much improved offensive arsenal throughout the camp, proving he is much more than just an athlete.
Few players have improved as much as Smith has over the past twelve months. While at Reebok Breakout Camp last July, it appeared as though he was starting to put it all together, and now he has.
With great size for the perimeter, and a burgeoning skill set, Smith looks as though he still has his best basketball ahead of him. Many schools have been recruiting him hard over the past few months, but Smith recently came out with a new list of schools that he is considering.
Arizona, Arizona State, Texas, UConn, Georgetown, Louisville, UCLA, USC, and California comprise the schools who have a shot at landing the talented swingman; who took an unofficial visit to UConn on Wednesday.
With nine programs vying for his services it would appear that a decision is still a ways away. Smith did mention that he would be looking for a program that had a good fanbase, one that fit his style of play, and one that has strong academics.
Playing with Dream Vision and one of the top bigs in the country, Chase Jeter, there will be plenty of opportunity for Smith to showcase his ability on the highest level. It will be interesting to see if one of the bluebloods tries to get involved and becomes an addition to Smith's list, or if he is truly focused, and will choose, from the nine programs above.
