Clarksburg, WV (Future150) -- Tucked away deep in the hills of central West Virginia is one of high school basketball's biggest secrets. Levi Cook, all 6-foot-9 inches and 305 pounds of him, spent his freshman season at Liberty Raleigh High School dominating AA schools all over the central region of the state. Playing in such a rural area, it's rare to see such an enormous prospect, especially at such a young age.
Not only are fans enamored by his sheer size, but they are impressed by his skills as well. He was named AA Second-Team All-State after his dominant season in which he averaged 18.6 points, 15.4 rebounds, and 4.6 blocks per game. While he is still a very raw prospect, there is tremendous upside in his game.
His initial season on the hardwood hasn't gone unnoticed by major college programs. He has already been contacted by home state power WVU, as well as the Marshall Thundering Herd, Ohio State Buckeyes, Pittsburgh Panthers, Maryland Terrapins, Virginia Tech Hokies, and Central Florida Golden Knights, among others. Expect many more big time programs to get involved as word leaks about the talented big man.
While playing for such a small school, there is a good possibility that he could transfer in search of better competition and increased exposure. However, one thing is certain, whether he leaves Liberty Raleigh for his sophomore season and beyond or not, the 6-foot-9 inch center will be at the forefront of media attention for the remainder of his high school career. I hope you're paying attention Bob Huggins, because Levi Cook will be a recruit that you can't afford to let leave the state for what promises to be a bright college career.
