Orlando, FL (Future150) -- If you are blessed enough to grow to 6'4" while displaying the skills of a shooting guard on the hardwood, you better take advantage of the blessing.
That is exactly what Lake Brantley High School (FL) junior Nick Martin is doing. The slender and wiry shooting guard prospect works tirelessly on his game, and is beginning to make progress on becoming a recruited basketball player.
He has been lifting weights, doing speed workouts, and playing as much pickup basketball as he can since his high school season ended, and now he is ready for AAU season, where he is looking to show college coaches that he is more than just a jump shooter.
The guard who mirrors his game after Larry Bird will be playing with the successful Showtime Ballers program based out of central Florida, which is coached by Diana Neal.
While it was a tough season for Nick's high school team, he was wise enough to learn several new things over the course of the last five months about himself and his game.
"Our high school season was very challenging this year. We had a lot of ups and downs. We lost in the first round of districts. I felt that this year was very productive for me though. I learned many things about my game, what i can and can't do. I just have to keep working hard and get ready for next season," he told Future150.
An excellent long range shooter, he tried to display more aspects of his game for Lake Brantley during the season.
"As an individual i got my team involved as much as possible. I knocked down shots when they were open and resisted the temptation to pull up from deep," he stated matter-of-factly.
While Illinois State is one school taking a long look at Nick Martin right now, you can bet that more schools will be taking notice to the evolving guard from Florida.
