Memphis, TN (Future150) -- An already stacked 2013 Memphis Tigers recruiting class improved vastly with a commitment by local star Austin Nichols on Monday.
The 6'8", 210-pound power forward prospect from Briarcrest Christian (TN) and concensus top 20 recruit nationally couldn't resist playing close to home and continuing to build Josh Pastner's Tiger program.
He committed to Memphis over Tennessee, Auburn, Duke, Vanderbilt, and Virginia.
He is the fifth recruit in the 2013 Memphis class, joining top 100 recruits Kuran Iverson, Nick King, Markel Crawford, and RaShawn "Pookie" Powell.
The allure of staying close to home and playing with such a talented group of incoming talent in a basketball-crazed city is what sealed the deal for the talented forward.
With the transition to Big East basketball coming next season for the Tigers, Josh Pastner has made sure that his 2013 class has the firepower to compete with anyone in the conference in the coming years.
