Nashville, TN (Future150) -- West Charlotte High School (NC) big man Kennedy Meeks will be making his future known at 7:00 p.m. tonight, deciding between the Georgetown Hoyas and the North Carolina Tarheels.
The 6'8", 280-pound power forward is a coveted recruit by both schools not only because of his finesse around the basket, but because he is widely known as one of the best passing big men to come through the high school ranks in several years.
If he commits to North Carolina, he will join fellow North Carolina native and power forward, Isaiah Hicks. Hicks is a top 15 national prospect who will flourish in Chapel Hill. The two would compliment each other well in Tarheel blue. Hicks is more of an up-and-down player who uses his athleticsm to make an impact on the game, while Kennedy Meeks is a half-court player who can step out and stretch the defense with his perimeter shooting.
Georgetown will get a serious look by Meeks not only because of their outstanding academics, but also because they are known for developing post players over the years. Right now, they have a young star in Otto Porter, a player Meeks could learn a lot from next year, provided he doesn't bolt for the NBA after this season.
Future150 predicts he will ultimately choose the North Carolina Tarheels, not only because of the proximity to his home, but because of the history and tradition the school has.
