Jackson, MS (Future150) -- Future150 was on the road this past weekend, checking out some talented young prospects at the 2013 Global Elite Exposure Camp in Jackson, Mississippi, held by Omar Carter.
The camp featured some of the best 4th through 8th grade talent roaming the courts of the southeastern United States, and we were pleased to see the competitive nature of the kids for the duration of the camp.
After evaluating the prospects over the course of two days, Future150 camp up with a listing of the top 10 prospects, regardless of class. Here is who stood out most to the staff...
1.) Ladarius Marshall - 6'3" SG MBA Hoops - The class of 2018 athletic freak dominated the camp from start to finish with his above-the-rim play, which couldn't be matched by anyone in attendance. He ran the floor looking for put-back slams, rebounded well, and was an intimidating shot-blocking presence. Even if he didn't block the shot, offensive players were fearful of putting the ball anywhere close to where he could use his impressive vertical leap to swat it in mid-air.
2.) Jamal Bieniemy - 5'10" SG Rytes Warriors - Another 2018 prospect, the shooting guard from Houston, Texas is the epitome of smooth. He controlled the pace of the game, whether he was playing the point guard position, or manning his natural shooting guard spot. He is a lanky,active, and versatile wing who can play the 1-3 positions on the floor. Possesses solid ball-handling skills, court vision, and a dangerous jump shot from the outside.
3.) Lagarious White - 5'7" PG Titans - Perhaps the smoothest player in attendance, you can just tell that Lagarious has the "it" factor that makes many point guard prospects special. The 2017 guard loves to get out in transition and attack the basket. In the half-court setting, he can get to the rim with ease using his bursts of quickness. Also a capable shooter from the outside. Overall, a very good lead guard prospect going forward.
4.) Jhamon Ausbon - 6'0" SF Rytes Warriors - The 2017 forward is a player who is young for his grade, which makes him all the more appealing. He has solid post moves on the inside, as well as guard skills on the perimter. While his shot is a work in progress, he does so many other things well that it doesn't hinder his effectiveness on the game. Very good on-ball defender. He is a high-upside prospect.
5.) Jaquarius Harris - 5'3" PG Young Starz - Don't be fooled by his size, the 2018 lead guard is a highly skilled point guard prospect. He has impressive ball skills, court vision, and plays with a ton of heart. He showed great on-ball defensive skills and has the quickness you need need in an impact PG. He also is capable of getting hot from the perimeter, showing range out to the 3-point line.
6.) Cameron Akers - 5'10" SG MBA Hoops - A physical two-sport athlete, you can tell that Cameron plays football. The 2017 guard already has the body of a player much older than himself, and he uses it when attacking the rim, where he finishes very well with contact. He loves to get out in transition, and he has an endless motor. A very good on-ball defender as well. Great kid!
7.) Cedric "C.J." Washington III - 6'1" SG Rytes Warriors- The shooting guard prospect had a very good camp overall. He has a very good body for such a young player, and isn't afraid to use it, playing physical basketball when necessary. He is an active player without the ball in his hands and loves to catch and shoot. He is also very good in transition.
8.) Antavion Collum - 5'11" SF Memphis War Eagles - The most talented 2019 prospect at the camp, it is easy to see what makes him such a talented kid. He has great size for his age, and he has skills to play every position on the floor against players in his class. As he continues to develop, it is going to be interesting to see what position he ends up playing. Regardless, he will be a special player.
9.) Eden Holt - 5'0" PG Rytes Warriors - The Houston product had the most impressive ball skills for any guard at the entire camp. He has elite ball-handling skills for a player his age, and it is fun to watch him toy with defenders. He is a quick player who gets into the lane at will, and he is also a very solid shooter from the outside. He controls tempo well, and has an extremely high basketball IQ.
10.) Ro'darien Pendleton - 5'5" PG MBA Hoops -From our estimates, he is the most impressive 2019 prospect in the city of Jackson, Mississippi. He is a point guard with ball skills beyond his years, and has extremely good court vision as well. Plays with excellent pace, and never shows his emotions on the floor. He is always in control. A good shooter with range out to the 3-point line.
