Charlotte, NC (Future150) -- The Future150 camp series continued its trip to Charlotte, North Carolina this weekend.
Charlotte brought out some of the most underrated players in our camp series. With tons of players coming out for exposure, only a select proved to be elite.
Here are the players that stood out:
Brandon Watts, 2014 SF: Watts was one of the most exciting players at the camp with his athleticism and ability to play above the rim. At 6-foot-4, he blocked shots and finished well at the rim. He is extremely long and runs the floor great; because of that, he excels in transition and attacking the basket.
Justin Busby, 2017 SG: There was no shooter in Charlotte like Busby, a 6-foot-1 guard. The freshman shot the ball at a high rate and kept his team in the game with his shooting ability. He also handles the ball well on the perimeter.
Darnell Rogers, 2016 PG: Rogers, the No. 43 player in the Future150 rankings, justified his spot among the elite players in his class. Despite being 5-foot-3, the sophomore did an outstanding job of controlling the tempo of the game. He constantly made plays, whether it was in the half-court or in transition. However, the best part of his game is his defense. Rogers may be the best on-ball defender in his class, as he forces steals and other turnovers.
Raequan Gregg, 2014 CG: Physicality defines the game of Gregg. Despite being a guard, he was one of the more physical players to come out to the camp. He did a nice job of finishing with contact at the rim, and he was reliable with his game. Built like an ox, Gregg proved he can play with some of the most physical players around.
Dominic Corbitt, 2015 SG: Corbitt was one of the few players that impacted the game without scoring. The 6-foot wing man did wonders for his team with his outstanding rebounding ability, especially on the offensive boards. With his athleticism and length, Corbitt got easy baskets for himself and his teammates with his activity on the glass.
Jordan Barber, 2015 PG: Barber was another impressive point guard that showcased his skills this weekend. The 5-foot-11 guard played downhill and was always a threat to drive and get an easy score. He is very crafty with his game, especially around the rim. Once he gets his jump shot consistent from outside, he will be even more dangerous.
Cole Kaiser, 2015 SG: One of the more pleasant surprises from Charlotte’s action was Kaiser. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard showed off an outstanding shot. He hit shots from all over the floor, but most of his damage came from behind the arch. Kaiser also showed some sneaky athleticism.
Devin Cooper, 2015 PG: Cooper’s speed and first step off the dribble made him one of the camp’s most elite players. The 6-foot-1 point guard did a nice job of pushing the ball and scoring when he needed. His vision in transition is off the charts, as he set several teammates up for easy buckets. He has gotten stronger since last year, making his game that more impressive.
DeMonte Jacobs, 2015 SF: At first glance, Jacobs wouldn’t look like a sniper at 6-foot-2 and 200-pounds. However, the wing was extremely dangerous from behind the three-point line, as he sunk several shots per game. When he is hot, Jacobs is hard to beat because of his fluid technique and shot preparation.
DaqJuan Lee, 2014 SG: Lee has a college-ready body and is a great athlete, and he put both to good use over the weekend. The 6-foot shooting guard did a great job of defending. He used his length and quickness to keep ball-handlers in front of him, as well as block a couple of shots. The southpaw also hit some shots from the outside.
Jeff Thompson, 2015 PG: The New Jersey native made his commute to Charlotte and proved himself among the campers. At 6-foot, the point showed off a nice ball-handling ability, as well as an ability to get to the basket. While he needs to become more consistent with his shot, Thompson showed he could hit mid-range shots from anywhere on the floor.
Derek Smith, 2014 SG: Smith has some of the best qualities of a basketball player: he plays extremely hard and is coachable. The 6-foot athlete plays with a high motor and gets after it on both ends of the floor. He is an effective rebounder, as well as driving to the basket. With his upper body strength, he proved he could finish with contact.
