Houston, TX (Future150) -- Future150 Camp made its third stop on its Fall series and the destination was Houston, TX at “THE GYM” in Humble on August 20th and 21st. This was the 3rd year in a row the Future150 Camp has come to Houston looking for the best talent the state Texas has to offer. As expected from years past, there was plenty of young and old talent putting on a show in the F150 Top 20 All-Star game. The talent on display was from the likes of 2012-Josh Gray (Mississippi State commit) 2014-Joe Burton and 2013-Johnathan Motley to name a few. Here is a look at the top performers in this year’s camp.
Andrew Kelly (2013-Klein High-Spring, TX) the 6-foot-8 inch PF showed a skill set that we just haven’t seen this fall. He has a big body and long arm which allow him to rebound the ball well on both ends of the floor. He can score with his back to the basket with a wide array of moves, face up from mid range, and shot the 3 point shot with consistency. Kelly can run the floor and finish on the break as well. His motor was what really set him apart from the competition. He was the most fundamental big man the F150 Camp has seen in the 2011 series.
Johnathan Motley (2013-North Shore-Houston, TX) the 6-foot-8 inch SF is a super long player who can score on all three levels. He likes to block shots and has a nice soft touch with both hands around the rim. He showed one of the most consistent mid range jumpers from anyone in the camp. Motley runs the floor extremely well in transition and can finish with contact. Nothing but upside on this high major prospect in the future.
Josh Gray (2012-Christian Life-Houston-TX) the 6-foot-1 inch high major PG committed to Mississippi State was unstoppable all weekend long and the most electrifying, show stopping player in the camp. He showed a change of pace in his attacking style that kept his defenders on their heels all camp long. He can score on all three levels and is an incredible athlete as he blocked shots and finished at the rim with contact. Gray’s strong body and high major skill level makes the game look too easy. He was definitely the MVP of the camp hands down.
Dominic Magee (2014-Helen Cox-New Orleans, LA) the 6-foot-4 inch SG is smooth lefty who can flat score the rock. He uses his length to his advantage when rebounding, guarding bigger players and attacking the rim. He has the speed and quickness to guard both guard positions on the floor. He has a nice mid range game from 15 ft and can knock down the three point shot with consistency. Magee is hearing from Tulane, Oklahoma and Texas Tech.
Edward Alade (2012-Kempner-Houston, TX) the 6-foot-9 inch PF is a long rangy player who has a 7’4” wing span and uses to his advantage when blocking shots and scoring off his baby hook. He rebound’s the ball well on both ends and can run the floor well in transition. Alade has a nice mid range jumper and likes to turn and face dribble drive on his defender. Overall this lengthy player has tremendous upside to his game. He is hearing from Western Carolina and Appalachain State.
Joe Burton (2014-Lutheran North-Porter, TX) the 6-foot-6 inch SF was definitely the most talented young player at the camp. He showed a wide range of skills on both ends of the floor. He shoots the 3-point shot extremely well and likes to attack smaller defenders off the dribble. He is an explosive athlete who finishes extremely well at the rim on the break. Burton is a no brainer high major prospect. He has an offer from Auburn and receiving interest from Texas, Texas AM, Marquette, Memphis and LSU.
Ryan Garcia (2012-Jersey Village-Houston, TX) the 6-foot-1 inch PG was one of the most solid and consistent players in the camp. He show good ball handling skills and likes to drive the ball to basket. He shot the long ball well even from 24-26 feet range. He has good size and sees the court well in transistion. Garcia has the speed and quickness to play and guard both guard positions. He’s a solid D1 prospect.
Zachary Brown (2013- Klein Collins- Spring, TX) the 6-foot-6 inch SG is a long, smooth, rangy player who is a great athlete. He likes to attack the rim in transition and loves the mid range jumper. He shoots the 3 point shot extremely well and has a high basketball IQ which is a coaches dream. Brown rebound’s the ball well on both ends and likes to start the break after a defensive rebound. He has a tremendous upside to his game and this high major prospect is going to do nothing but get better. He is hearing from Texas, Oklahoma, Auburn, and Memphis.
Evan Doremus (2012-Cypress Christian-Houston , TX) the 6-foot-6 inch SF had one of the most fundamental jump shots the camp has seen. He can score on all three levels and uses his length to grab rebounds on the offensive end of the floor. His best asset might be his ability to knock down the 3-point shot with consistency. Doremus has a great motor and a high basketball IQ. This D1 prospect is going to make a coach look really good.
Bridge Lavey (2012-Atascocita-Houston, TX) the 6-foot-6 inch F150 Alumni has grown since we last seen him and boy has he gotten better. This long, lanky sharp shooter has improved tremendously. He likes to attack the basket in transition and can finish at the rim. His greatest strength would be his 3-point shot making ability with a hand in his face. Lavey was responsible for making back to back three point field goals in the all star game during crunch time to seal the win for his team. He is hearing from Air Force, Denver, Cal Poly, Wichita State, Texas State, Texas AM Corpus Christi, Creighton and Tulsa.
Mitchell Badillo (2012-Cypress Falls-Houston, TX) the 5-foot-9 inch PG showed the best court vision of any player in the camp. His change of pace when attacking and transition passing made his teammates look like a million dollars. He can score on all three levels and loves to play defense. Badillo strongest part of his game was his ability to make the mid range jumper.
Ja’Cardo Hawkins (2014-East Ascension-Geismar, LA) the 6-foot-7 inch PF has a big body and uses it well when posting on offense. He showed a wide range of moves in the post and likes to step out and knock down the mid range shot. He has a nice touch and can finish with both hands around the basket. Hawkins rebound’s extremely well and can run and fill lanes on the break. He is trying to transition into a small forward to expand his game.
Michael Klefas (2012-Cypress Creek-Cypress, TX) the 6-foot-3 inch CG is a strong bodied player who can attack of the dribble and finish with contact at the rim. He likes the mid range jumper and has great court vision in both transition and the half court. He handles the ball really well and rebound’s well from the guard position.
Cheroke Taylor (2013-St.Pius X-Houston, TX) the 6-foot-2 inch CG has improved his skill set since the last time we saw him at his alma mater. He has the athletic ability to guard both guard positions. He shot the ball well from the 3-point line all weekend long. Taylor likes to score in transition and can finish at the rim.
Jalen Smith (2013-Langham Creek-Houston, TX) the 5-foot-8 inch PG was one of the best ball handlers in the camp. He showed good court vision and liked to knock down the mid range jumper. He used his quickness to push the ball down the floor and make his teammates better. Smith is a solid prospect with a lot of upside at the point guard position. He is receiving interest from Northern Iowa, Wichita State, Webber State and Southern Illinois.
Christian Onyemem (2012-Fort Bend Austin-Richmond, TX) the 6-foot-6 inch PF plays with a high intensity level and a relentless motor. He was one of the better competitors at the camp. He showed he can score from all three levels and loves to finish at the rim on the break. He rebounds the ball well on both ends and likes post up players he knows can’t defend him.
Ivory Young (2013-Strake Jesusit-Houston, TX) the 6-foot-2 inch is a smooth PG who defends well and likes to attack the rim. He shoots the three ball well and has good court vision. His main weapon is the dribble drive pull up mid range jumper which was consistent all weekend.
Basi Prokofiev (2012-Liceum-Moscow, Russia) the 6-foot PG is first international player to attend the Future150 Camp. He is a highlight film waiting to happen as he makes all his teammates better with his passes. He is an excellent ball handler and can score on all 3 levels. He has great court vision both in transition and the half court. Overall he's a solid D1 prospect if your looking for a floor general.
Robert Eledu (2013-Cypress Ridge-Houston, TX) the 6-foot SG proved he can score at will. He might have been the most consistent defenders in the camp. His mid range game and attacking style enabled him to get to the rim and finish. Eledu uses his quickness well by creating opportunities for his teammates. He showed good court vision and the ability to rebound from the guard position.
Chris Campbell (2012-Clear Brook-Houston, TX) the 6-foot-3 inch SG is a strong bodied scorer who likes to attack in transition and score off the bounce. He can knock down the occasional three point basket to keep the defense honest. He rebounds the ball well from the guard position and has the quickness to guard both guard positions. Campbell is a solid D1 prospect who’s been under the radar too long.
Ryan Bradley, Jr. (2014-North Mesquite-Mesquite, TX) the 6-foot-4 inch SF is a big bodied player who can play both inside and out. He proved that he can make the three point shot but can also take you in the post as well. He might have been the most versatile players in the camp. Bradley likes to bang and get rebounds on the offensive end of the floor.
