North Charleston, SC (Future150) -- One prospect who made a name for himself at our Elite 24 National Camp for rising 9th, 8th and 7th graders this past August was South Carolina freshman Vincent Cole.

The 6-foot-5, 175-pound small forward came into camp as a relative unknown nationally. By the time he left, he was an all-star selection and was rated as the #15 overall performer in the 2017 class.

Since then, he has done nothing but further prove his standing as the #2 freshman prospect in the state of South Carolina, behind only Mullins star Jalek Felton.

The Garrett Academy standout has started his varsity career in tremendous fashion, setting the Charleston area on fire with his high-flying dunks and long range shooting. To date, he is averaging 21 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals per game.

"I've never seen someone go from middle school to varsity basketball and do what he has done in his first three games. So far, he has been shooting the ball efficiently, and has had four dunks, two of which posterized kids. It's very impressive."

That's what his high school coach Brandon Smalls had to say about his freshman star. Smalls also coaches Cole on the AAU circuit with the Charleston Playmakers, an upstart program beginning to gain respect nationally with their surplus of talent in the lowcountry.

While Cole has a long way to go in terms of development, there is no denying that he possesses the tools to become a national name within the next year.

Despite his age, he is extremely focused on becoming a talent who reaches well beyond South Carolina state lines by the time he graduates high school.

"I am prepared for greatness because I'm working on the fundamentals of the game. I'm working on strength and conditioning also in order to make all of my weaknesses null and void," he told Future150.

"I'm just going to continue moving forward having the grades and the right people around who motivate me to do everything I am capable of doing and who push me beyond my limits such as family, coaches and teammates."
