Coatesville, PA (Future150) -- It’s not easy to become known before you get to middle school.

AJ Hoggard a 5-foot-5 guard from the state of Alabama is a kid that has done just that, become noticed before he even reached 6th grade.

This young point guard is pass first guard.  He does well at finding his teammates in transition and in half court sets.  You could almost say he prefers passing the ball over shooting the rock.

Attacking the basket is also another part of his game that he does well.  He gets past his defenders, fights his way to the rim, and lays the ball in the hoop; while making it all look easy.

Scoring is practically second nature to him, which may be why his nickname is “McBuckets.”

“Even though I score and pass well, I realize my biggest weakness is playing on the court when I don’t have t ball in my hands,” Hoggard advised.  “I want to continue working on moving without the ball.”

Although he is just now entering the 6th grade, the young guard has played AAU ball and competed at some very high levels.

“I have attended AAU Nationals three times already, plus attended the John Carol, Rip Hamilton, and St. Anthony’s camps in the Northeast,” he provided.

Basketball is not the only sport he competes in, he also likes baseball and football.

“I am not a bad baseball and football player,” Hoggard claimed. I didn’t play baseball for the first time this year, but football is starting soon and I ready to give it a go.”

He has a long road ahead of him, but knows that keeping his head down and working hard is all going to work out for him one day.

“I am just going to continue working on my basketball game every day, because hard work pays off.”
