Pittsburgh, PA (Future150) -- The Pitt Panthers have gotten a huge commitment following the July period, landing local product Mike Young. While Young is originally from the Pittsburgh area, he plays his high school ball for a talented St. Benedicts (NJ) program.

Still, that didn't stop the talented big man from heading back home and joining the Panthers. For Pittsburgh this is a big time get, as the Panthers figured to be thin in the frontcourt by the time Young sets foot on campus. Young will also give the Panthers something they have lacked recently. He is a faceup four man who can attack off the dribble and shoot the three ball, as well as score in the post. Perhaps Young's best attribute is his ability to rebound. When he is engaged few players in the class rebound better than Young.

Young's commitment to the program leaves the Panthers with one available scholarship for the 2013 class, unless a player transfers or declares for the draft early. Looking at the current roster it wouldn't be surprising to see current freshman Steven Adams jump ship after a year, as he is arguably ready for the pros now. Fellow 2013 classmate Rene Castro has made it known that he is a fan of Pitt and could be the next to join them. Forwards Tyler Roberson and Jamel Artis both also plan on visiting Pitt and seem to be high on the program. Artis has said a decision could come soon.

Pitt has lined itself up for an impressive class and the foundation has been set with the commitment of Mike Young
