Centereach, NY (Future150) -- When you look at Damon Wilson, one thing is clear; he is a basketball player. At 6-foot-4, he is a long guard who excels in the open floor. At a recent practice, Wilson ripped down rebounds and dribbled up the floor, either finding one of Our Savior's talented big men, or finishing on his own.

While his size would make many think that Wilson may best be suited off the ball, he has other plans.

"I plan on playing point guard now and in the future. Coming to Our Savior was good because I don't need to score here. I am here to get the ball to the other guys like Kobie [Eubanks] and Chieck [Diallo]."

Wilson certainly looks comfortable in that role, finding Eubanks on the perimeter for open threes or driving and dropping it off for fellow 2015 classmate Chieck Diallo. Those three should combine to create one of the best combinations of players in the state of New York.

"I want us to be the best team in the state, there are good teams here but I think we can be the best," he said. Watching Damon, it is hard not to see a hint of Russell Westbrook in his game, a big point guard with good vision and a knack for scoring. Like Westbrook, he must also continue to work on his jumpshot, which is currently the weakest part of his game.

"My shot has fallen off a bit since I got here, but I just have to stay humble and keep working on it," he added.

It is clear that Wilson has all of the tools to be a top player in his class. Now he will look to continue to put all of it together as he leads a loaded Our Savior squad into this season.
