Tempe, AZ (Future150) -- For being just a freshman in high school, class of 2015 shooting guard Cassius Peat already seems set on blazing his own trail in a family filled with football stars.

His father Todd played seven seasons in the NFL as an offensive lineman with the St. Louis/Arizona Cardinals as well as the Oakland Raiders. His oldest brother, Todd Jr., is a defensive lineman playing with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. His other brother, Andrus, was rated as the top offensive lineman prospect in America for the class of 2012 and has signed on to play at Stanford next season.

For many young athletes, that would be quite a task to live up to. However, Cassius is content blazing his own path as a basketball star. Although he played outside linebacker and tight end for Corona Del Sol High School (AZ) this season, the hardwood is where he really stood out.

As the sixth man on a 32-1 Aztec team which won an Arizona Division I state championship, he averaged nearly 12 points and six rebounds per game as a sturdily built 6'4", 210 pound shooting guard. While he was obviously blessed with great genetics, he is using them to hopefully carry him on a long and successful basketball career.

He has been nicknamed "The chosen one" by his father, and when asked about it, he had this to say. "He thinks that I am the most athletic in the family."

That is certainly saying something, and it bodes well for colleges looking to recruit the young star, considering just how athletic the Peat family is. This summer, he will set out on the tough task of living up to his family's outstanding achievements.

He will be playing with the Arizona Stars AAU program, where he has a few goals over the next few months. "I'm trying to pick up some offers. I'll be heading to Arizona State's team camp, hoping to get an offer."

While the Sun Devils are certainly interested in the Corona Del Sol freshman, they aren't the only program.

"LSU, Penn State, St. Mary's, and Washington have shown interest." That list will most definitely grow as his career continues, one which he has lofty goals for.

"Next year, I'm trying to win another state title. Hopefully make all-conference, maybe even all-state."
